We reached out to Dr. Sharif Aljoaba to co-author chapter 8. His PhD dissertation "Active Optimal Control for Increasing the Efficiency of Photovoltaic Cells" served as a great test bed for MPC control. In chapter 8, his thermoelectrical model is integrated with Simulink(R) to predict the effects of the solar spectrum wavelengths on the PV module performance. Later on, we implement MPC controller to track the optimal temperature of the PV module that maximizes power generation. Both the model and controller will be available for free download on Matlab File Exchange shortly after publishing the book in October of 2017.
